Setting up a X server on Windows Subsystem for Linux

Since the introduction of the Windows Subsystem for Linux in 2016 I have dabbled on and off with getting it running, driven mainly by an interest in open source CFD software and the lack of Windows support for these programs. This is the first actual post I have made to this site after having it deployed for nearly a year. I have had the example posts up for that time.
